Introduced in 1988,
the "culture and recreation" category of the Citizen's Acclaim Awards
was set up to honour residents whose work has had "a significant impact
of provinical, national or international acclaim."
Winners include:

Phillips, visual artist; then a member of Visual Arts Brampton,
since moved from the area

Reid, visual artist, member of Visual Arts Brampton
- 1990 - Keith
Moreau, visual artist, President and founding member of Visual
Arts Brampton
- 1995 - Keith
Moreau, visual artist, President and founding member of Visual
Arts Brampton; Moreau was awarded the Long Term Service Award, 10
years after founding of the Juried Art Show that led to the creation
of Visual Arts Brampton
- 1996 - Visual
Arts Brampton - Long Term Service Award, for being an arts group
servicing professional and amateurs; vice-president Peter Scott accepted
- 1996 - Christopher
Seaman - visual artist, for his acceptance into a juried art show
at the National Aviation Museum in Ottawa; Seaman was a Visual Arts
Brampton member at the time, before moving to Oshawa
- 1996 - Mary
Taylor, visual artist, Long Term Service Award (10 Years) for
her service as a VAB Board Member, including serving as Vice-President,
and as a tireless volunteer for Visual Arts Brampton, especially in
the group's Bingo fundraising
- 2001 - Carol
Biberstein - visual artist, for the publication of In Great
Grandmother's Rocking Chair
- 2002 - Bridget
Aubé-Doughty - visual artist, Long Term Service Award (10 Years)
for her 12+ years of volunteer service to Visual Arts Brampton
