Bramptonian Betty Jean Evans began drawing and painting as a hobby at an early age, exploring a variety of art forms including pencil, charcoal, oils, coloured pencil and watercolour.
She has had the opportunity to be instructed and to develop her skills through occasional classes with Merle Smith, Dorothy Pullen, Bernice Antaya, and Keith Moreau. Betty Jean has taken workshops at the Southampton Art School with Gabor Mezei, John Roberts, and Jane Champagne. She has also taken watercolour workshops with Jack Reid at his Brampton studio as well as his painting tours in the UK and Ireland.
A member of Visual Arts Brampton, she won an award in VAB's 2002 and 2003 Images on Paper Juried Art Shows, and was published in their 2003 and 2004 calendars.
Her work has been exhibited at VAB's Artway Gallery and studio show and sales, at the Art Gallery of Peel, at the Brampton City Hall, and the office of MPP Linda Jeffrey at Queen's Park, Toronto during 2004.
