Brushes with Success is
an annual display of oils, acrylics, watercolours and watercolours
monoprints. Like most Artway shows the exhibitor are from across the
region of Peel, varying in style, subject matter and medium, but together,
the common painting theme unites their works.

Fin, Fur and Feather is an exhibition celebrating all creatures, great
and small. It is an annual exhibition, and has also been called Fin,
Fur & Feather.

| About the shows
The VAB Invitation will vary in content from year to year, with both
fine art and illustration. Additionally, VAB has occasionally had
memorial exhibitions, to tribute members who have recently passed.
Laughlines, an exhibit of humourous and cartoon art is a favourite
of many. Among the exhibitors are accomplished cartoonists, such as
Steve Nease, Patrick Corrigan, and Peter
Emslie; Lynn Johnston (For Better of For Worse, in 2001)
and Sandra Bell-Lundy (Between Friends, in 2009)
have had solo shows.

Calendar Art Competition 2003: Florals, unknown dates
2002, ABC. An annual competition for two years, we held a contest
to decide the pieces in our group's fundraising calendar. The project
was designed to highlight the creativity of talented professional,
semi-professional, and amateur Brampton artists, in our group.
Mixed Bag, unknown to June 9th, 2004, ASW, exhibitors
including Hector Greville, Joan Greville, Conrad Mieschke, Keith Moreau,
Albert Seaman. A "one-off" show, Mixed Bag was the
first exhibit at Artway Shoppers World, the current location of the
public exhibit space. According to promo materials: "The exhibit
is a cross-section of work by members, including portraits, landscapes,
still lifes, animals, architectural, and cartoons in diverse mediums,
including watercolour, oil, acrylics, coloured pencil, pencil, charcoal,
pen & ink, screenprinting, block printing and the digital arts."
It was also titled The Many Elements of Visual Arts Brampton.

Elizabeth Patrick. Founded in 1986, Visual Arts Brampton is almost
in its second decade Turning 20. This exhibit is designed to celebrate
the creativity of talented professional, semi-professional, and amateur
area artists in our group.
Wheels, unknown to unknown 2007, ASW. An exhibit of
automotive artworks. An exhibit was planned for 2008, but shelved.

An exhibition of portraits, Making Faces features a diverse
group of subjects and styles, all representing the human form. Young,

Making Faces, 28 February to 27 March 2009, ASW. The
faces of Brampton and the world are featured in this exhibit of portraits,
by members of Visual Arts Brampton. Featured is Tony Jenkins, a Globe
and Mail editorial cartoonist/illustrator, who is displaying various
acrylic portraits on canvas board, as well as hockey player portraits
painted directly on vintage table hockey sets. The attendees of Visual
Arts Brampton's portrait session have a section featuring pictures
of Brampton Guardian reporter Ashley Goodfellow, who posed
for the bunch, and chronicled this experience in the paper March 13
newspaper.
Making Faces, 27 February to 26 March 2010, ASW. Featured
artist for this exhibit is Glenn Bernabe, member of the Pastel Artists
of Canada. Bernabe was a selected artist for the Pastel Journal Magazine's
Pastel 100 Annual International Juried Competition. He has
won juried show awards from the Pastel Artists of Canada, Vaughan
Juried Art Exhibition, Art Gallery of Hamilton, MacKay Arts Centre,
and elsewhere.

Previously Ontario Landscapes | 6 shows, 2005 on
This Artway exhibit will look at the province of Ontario from the
eyes of artists, focusing in on its lush natural wonders, and its historic
architecture.

Exhibitors were Stan Adams, William Band, Maria Carosi, Mary Chorniuk,

Smith. The show was called A Place to Live, A Place to Grow- Images
of Ontario on the web and in The Guardian, as a tribute

Brampton artists draw and paint landscapes locally and from across
the world. Conrad Mieschke will be the featured exhibitor in the show,
with 13 original and reproduced artworks.

An exhibit of works dealing with the winter season, Christmas, and
toys. Originally, it was called Playthings, when it was only based
around toys and games. We expanded the theme over the years, to allow
for a wider variety of our artists' creativity. It was started in
2000, if not earlier.

2004. Children's book author/illustrator and Brampton-resident Sean
Cassidy launches our new gallery space.
VAB Student Exhibit 2004, 23 December
2004 to 22 January 2005. Exhibitors included Krista Castello, Emily
Kowalik, Priya Mistry, Danielle Toner. An exhibit of works created
by Visual Arts Brampton's youth classes in 2004, as well as works
by instructor Keith Moreau.
Animex 2005 with Tony Tarantini, 27
December 2004 to 22 January 2005. Art by Tony Tarantini. Sheridan
instructor and former Nelvana animation professional Tony Tarantini
takes Animex into its fourth year. This exhibit highlights some
of Tony's works.
Mardi Gras and other Portraits, unknown
January to 25 February 2005. Exhibitors included (incomplete) Bridget
Doughty, Peter Emslie, Keith Moreau, Elizabeth Patrick. An exhibit
of fiesta-themed works, created for a Habitat for Humanity fundraising
event.

Mary Noble, and Marian Simpson. This show at the Golden Pheasant
Gallery focused on painting mediums, including acrylics, oils, and

Remembering a founding member of Visual Arts Brampton, through her
artwork, and portraits of her by friends. Mary Taylor was the primary
exhibitor. Other exhibitors were Doris Ayde-White, Marguerite Finlayson,
Paulette Murphy, and Mary Noble, who all showed their portraits
of Mary.
Spring, 2 May to 1 June 2005. Exhibitors
were Doris Ayde-White, Maria Carosi, Mary Chorniuk, Betty Jean Evans,

The Art of Bridget Doughty, 3 June to 4 July 2005.
Solo show. Longtime member and self-taught artist Bridget Doughty
presents an exhibit of new acrylics, pastels, and watercolours.
The official opening was held June 5th at 11 am to 4 pm, light refreshments
were served.
Brisdale Public School, unknown to 20 April 2005,
FFG. An exhibit of works by the north Brampton school, newly opened
this year. It was the first show at Fridge Front Gallery, ever. VAB

Growing Up XX, 2 to 16 May 2005, FFG. One of three
exhibits dedicated to life as a girl, organized by Growing Up XX and
Peel Community Connections, with the participation of the Boys and
Girls Club of Peel. The other two exhibits run simultaneously are
in a Streetsville Gallery and the Meadowvale Theatre, both within

Brampton Caledon Community Living, 1 to 26 May 2005,
FFG. BCCL supports people with a developmental disability, in partnership
with their families and the community, to lead enriched and meaningful
lives. The exhibit is their photography. (Organization)
The Mayfield Connection to VAB, 16 May to 19 June
2005, FFG. Exhibitors were Peter Clinton, Jennifer Cuthbert, Yang
Ding, Sarah Frid, Martina Gorski, Stephanie Hagendorn, Emily Kowalik,

An exhibit of historic buildings drawn in pen & ink, as well as
works by former VAB students who were or are Mayfield students. The
show is curated by Mayfield student Sarah Frid, a VAB alumni. Was

Visual Arts Brampton youth students. The worlds culture,
politics, and technology have been influenced and shaped by all
people. African-American and African-Canadians have made numerous
and varied contributions to society as a whole. We honour just
a few of these thinkers and doers this month at Fridge Front,
with a display of related portraits and still lifes by Visual
Arts Bramptons youth students.

World Brampton was originally opened, 40 annums ago. All of the
art was created by Visual Arts Brampton's youth students. Pictures
were of the Eagle Space capsule from the Apollo 11 program, penguins
(related to DDT), Jack Black (born in 1969), Emmitt Smith (born
in 1969), and Jennifer Aniston (born in 1969).
