Long-time arts advocate wins big

May 31, 2004, VAB Expressions (now Creative Urges)

Long-time Brampton arts advocate John Cutruzzola has finally been awarded for his extensive arts efforts in the community. Cutruzzola is an active supporter of at many community arts groups in Brampton as diverse as the Peel Heritage Complex and the Brampton Jazz Festival.

Builder of City Hall, John’s Inzola Construction was going to create the Market Square building in the downtown; the concept has since morphed into a new location for the Heritage Theatre, soon the Brampton Centre for the Performing Arts.

John and Inzola also restored and renovated the Peel Heritage Complex, including the Art Gallery of Peel. The Gallery’s annual Juried Show features a monetary prize, provided by John.

The win came after three previous unsuccessful nominations for John.
The event had Ancient Roman-themed entertainment, an unintentional tribute to John’s Italian heritage. Former Premier William G. Davis was a special guest at the ceremonies.
