Cyanotype: Toning the Botanical Blue Print

In this single evening class, students will learn the origin and methodology of the Cyanotype printing process. Students will then create their own Cyanotype print art using flora and fauna, and learn how to tone Cyanotypes.

What Students Will Learn

  • Introduction to one of the initial photographic process
  • Technical details of the Cyanotype, sun print process
  • Students will sensitize their paper, design, expose in sun and develop their own Cyanotype prints
  • Students will also learn the toning process

About the Instructor

Aditi Ganeev Sangwan

Aditi Ganeev Sangwan was born and brought up in India. She has earned her PhD in visual art from prestigious Visva Bharati University, Santiniketan where she later served as Professor in Department of Graphic Art before moving to Canada as Immigrant recently. She is an Artist and Educator who loves to explore the potential of art practice through innovative ideas and interdisciplinary approach. She works with versatile mediums including painting and mixed media. She has shown in various group shows internationally and her works are represented by Fresh paint gallery, San Diego, California, USA.

Her ongoing research practice is based on print-specific and print-related works, hybrid prints, toning possibilities in light-sensitive mediums, and non-toxic solutions for printmaking processes.
