Designed for active minds, this three part class invites young people to explore themes of identity, imagination, and everyday life through the accessible materials and playfulness of zines! Using paper, pencils and sketching pens, students will learn different ways of folding and simple illustration techniques to create their own hand-crafted zines. This course welcomes young art enthusiasts of all skill levels, encouraging self expression. Materials will be provided. Zines can be written in any language or no language at all!
What is a zine?
A zine is a small, self-published, low-circulation publication, often focusing on niche topics. Short for "fanzine," these are typically handmade booklets that can be about any topic, from politics and art to music and personal experiences. They are usually distributed through photocopies, online, or at small events.

Malachi Watson-Narcisse
Malachi Watson-Narcisse is a Brampton based artist, illustrator and graphic designer. His art highlights a diverse range of subjects with the hope of fostering a sense of community and connection.
Malachi has been publishing a monthly zine called ‘FKA Who Yorker’ for the past 2 years. His zine aims to highlight the local art scene and features the work of different artists in the city.
