Teen Student Exhibit at Beaux-Arts Brampton

Teen Student Exhibit at Beaux-Arts Brampton

Visual Arts Brampton is pleased to announce our Teen Student Exhibit, running from June 5th – July 6th, 2019 at Beaux-Arts Brampton. The opening reception will be held on June 12th, 2019 from 7-9pm.

Beaux-Arts Brampton is located at 70-74 Main Street North, Brampton, ON L6Y 2B2. Gallery hours are Wednesday - Friday: 1 - 6pm & Saturday: 10 - 3pm.

About the Exhibition: The Visual Arts Brampton Teen Student exhibit is composed of work that is representative of traditional and modern techniques that are taught to the students in VAB art programs. Each piece in the exhibit expresses the unique styles and personalities of the individual teenage artists. Visitors to this exhibit will emerge with an understanding of the maturity, skill, and depth of expression present in the teenage population.

About Visual Arts Brampton: As a non-profit organization, Visual Arts Brampton strives to maintain a positive, supportive community that fosters and encourages creativity in artists of all ages and skill levels.

Visual Arts Brampton offers quality programming including unique weekly art classes for teens and children, workshops in a variety of media for adults and weekly drop-in open studio, life and portrait drawing sessions. Throughout the year, Visual Arts Brampton organizes and participates in numerous community events and exhibits at multiple locations across the city.

Whether you are looking to develop your artistic skills, create with like-minded individuals, or exhibit your work – the Visual Arts Brampton community will help to encourage your creativity.

About Beaux-Arts Brampton: Beaux Arts is a volunteer driven, artist run gallery that serves as a premier exhibition space for emerging to established visual & multi-media artists and photographers.

Beaux Arts features bright gallery spaces, a boutique gift shop, and 2nd floor art business studios, in the heart of downtown Brampton.

The centre unites artist members and the creative audience in the spirit of fostering and celebrating the arts, together.

Operating successfully since 2002, Beaux Arts was founded by the Brampton Arts Council & dedicated visual artists, with the support of the City of Brampton, Downtown Brampton BIA, Trillium, and many volunteers, members & private sponsors.

Art Scholarships for Brampton Youth

As a non-profit organization, Visual Arts Brampton has served the community for over 30 years and strives to foster and encourage creativity in artists of all ages and skill levels. Beginning this year, Visual Arts Brampton is looking to partner with Child & Youth Service organizations in Brampton to offer three Art Scholarships for our weekly art classes. The scholarship would provide the chosen candidate an opportunity to join our weekly art classes for a full year term starting in September at Visual Arts Brampton. Scholarships will be awarded via a lottery system. In order to be eligible for these scholarships, applicants need to meet the following requirements:

  • Be between 6-18 years old
  • Be registered in a Child & Youth Service Organization within Brampton
  • Demonstrates a passion for art or a desire to expand their art studies, but does not have the means to take enrichment classes outside of school

One scholarship per age group (6-8 Years, 9-12 Years, 13-18 Years) will be awarded to a randomly selected individual from a list of all approved applicants. Nominees must be registered in and submitted by a registered Child & Youth service organization in Brampton.

Watercolour Workshops

Watercolour Workshops with Zan Barrage

Join master watercolour artist Zan Barrage for one of his popular watercolour workshops. If you are just getting into watercolours and want to learn the basics, or you are experienced and want to improve or learn new techniques these workshops are sure to suit your needs.

Starting Out in Watercolour is a four-session workshop for beginners designed to lay down a solid foundation for you to work with the medium and help you produce exquisite works. The workshop includes painting exercises involving various subjects, and each session will build upon the one before it. Whether you are a beginner or a seasoned watercolour artist who wants a review and to loosen up, this four-session workshop is for you. This workshop is held on Wednesday mornings starting May 8, 2019 from 10:00am - 1:00pm.

Landscapes in Watercolour is a four-session workshop for intermediate to advanced watercolour artists who are looking to apply new techniques, experiment with colours and delve into design and composition. You will come out of your comfort zone, shake things up and in the process paint inspired paintings that will thrill and excite. This workshop is held on Friday mornings and starts May 10, 2019 from 10:00am - 1:00pm.

Make Your Own Watercolours is a single day workshop that is a deep dive into colour and pigments and how to make watercolor paints that are above artist grade. Pigment saturation, medium mixes and character development will be our focus as well as building our own unique blends and signature colours. Students will go home with a palette of twelve colours. This workshop is held on Saturday May 25, 2019 from 2:30pm - 7:30pm.
